6 Must-Have Tesla Accessories for Model Y/3

Whether buying a used or new Tesla, these accessories are a must-have for many people.

I’m a real Tesla owner and even lived in my Model Y for a year, sleeping in the back. I’m no shill, and these are the products I find most useful.

Top Tesla Accessories

To see these products, check out this video review.

I hope sharing what I’ve learned is worth a tap on the like button 🙂 and either way, feel free to comment with any questions.

Up first, a low-cost Tesla accessory a charging lock. For roughly $10, you can gain some peace of mind.

1. Tesla Charging Lock

When charging at a public supercharger, it locks automatically. This prevents random people from unplugging your Tesla. But at 3rd party chargers, they won’t lock. For example, some overnight hotel chargers and you can also find free Tesla chargers around the U.S.

There’s a simple charging ring you can connect to your adapter. It’s easy to connect and doesn’t take up much space.

Here are the best-selling charger locks on Amazon (affiliate link here and the ones below). If buying or rebuying these products, these are the top ones I’d consider.

Now for my most recommended Tesla accessory…

2. Tesla Floor Mats

The main benefit is to protect your Tesla, and make it easier to clean… but no need to dwell on this Tesla accessory. Although, there are a few key things to look out for before buying… for example, there’s a common design issue with many Tesla floor mats.

To learn more, here’s a dedicated Tesla floor mat review. For a quick look, here are the best-selling ones on Amazon.

For another similar Tesla accessory, you might want to consider door sill protectors. If you’re trekking through rain, mud or snow, it’s an extra layer of protection. Even in the concrete jungle, you might get small rocks caught in the bottom of your shoes.

Here are sill protectors from a 3rd party company that specializes in Tesla accessories. You can use my discount code for up to a 20% discount.

Discount Code: BRIANKEHM20

The company might offer even higher discounts. Feel free to explore all the Tesla products and deals. And always keep in mind to select the proper sizing. There can be different options for the Model Y and Model 3, even for the same Model of different years.

Coming in at number 3, here’s another must-have accessory…

3. Tesla Window Covers

I use these all the time to protect my Tesla Model Y. The sun wears down your interior… and this is amplified on a hot day. Most covers have a reflective exterior to keep your Tesla a little cooler. Some provide insulation as well.

For an added benefit, they’re also great for privacy. They’re one of the best Tesla accessories when traveling and car camping. Great for stealth camping in a Tesla.

Here are the best-selling window covers on Amazon. Once again, make sure to select ones that fit your Model Y or Model 3.

For the Model Y, you can also get a full sunroof cover to block the sun. Click on that link to see my YouTube video review.

Now on to the next must-have Tesla accessory. Although, this product is great for any car…

4. Portable Tire Pump

I picked one up for my old Honda Accord close to 10 years ago. Now it travels everywhere with me in my Tesla Model Y as well. I just used it to top off my tire pressure a few days ago.

Similar to most of these accessories, you can buy ones directly from Tesla. However, Tesla charges a premium price… and many of their accessories are made overseas anyways. On top of that, the worst part of the Tesla experience has been Tesla’s customer support. Don’t get me wrong, the cars are great… but some of its supporting products and services are lacking.

For those reasons, you might consider third party products. Here’s a link to the top-rated portable tire pumps on Amazon. Some are well under half the cost that Tesla lists… this one even has over 100,000 reviews with an average of 4.5 stars.

This next Tesla accessory can come in handy as well…

5. Tesla Trunk Bins

Most of the Tesla interior is a fabric that can be hard to clean. Picking up some trunk bins can make cleaning much easier. For example, they’re safer for hauling groceries that might spill. Or if on a longer trip and changing elevation, bottled liquids might leak. For example, shampoo, etc. Here’s a full review and video on Tesla bins.

Now for one last accessory…

6. Tesla Lift pucks

These don’t take up much space. And hopefully you don’t need them.

If you’re in an area with lots of Teslas, the service shops likely have the proper tools to lift your Tesla. But if less common, or on road trips, lift pucks might come in handy.

Here are lift pucks from a third party company. Once again, you can use my discount code BRIANKEHM20 for 20% off. You might find other deals as well. And as always, good to compare accessories and costs…

Here are the best-selling lift pucks on Amazon. I’m seeing better prices, but there’s a difference in quality.

Must-Have Accessory for Every Car

To mention one last must-have Tesla accessory – or really for any car – it’s good to have an emergency roadside kit. These come with first aid products, and often reflective gear. Road flares or reflectors can caution other drivers in the cause of an emergency.

There’s no need to break the bank, and lots of options to choose from. Here are the best-selling ones on Amazon. Check those out and if you don’t already have a kit in your car, this should be top of the list. Some basic medical gear goes a long way. It came in handy while I lived out of my Tesla.

More Tesla Accessories, Guides, and Adventures

There you have it, a concise lit of must-have Tesla accessories. Although, there are many other products to consider.

Here’s an article that list 40 Tesla products! Most of these accessories work with both a Model Y or Model 3. Check them out and feel free to reach out with any questions.

To make the best of your Tesla, here are some guides. For example, Car Wash Mode can be a bit tricky depending on the car wash you use.
