On the roof shades, clips are more common. However, you shouldn’t need them for front and side covers. With the right fit, they should pop into place and stay there. Although, most front covers come with straps around the rear view mirror.
This is a key consideration because you might be putting up and taking down the window shades often. When you’re driving, you’ll need to be able to see through most of the windows. This is a legal requirement in many areas. So, with easy installation, you can save a lot of time.
For a little less hassle, I’ve also always kept in the back little triangle window covers. Then I put up and take down the rest of the shades on hot days. That’s when I’m leaving my car in the sun.
